What we track
The useful detail is the flight number, not the landing time typed into a booking form. Schedules move; the flight number lets us follow the actual aircraft. That is why we ask for it before you fly, and why a delay announced by the airline does not normally require you to do anything at all.
On the day of travel the desk watches the inbound flight rather than the original timetable. If the aircraft leaves two hours late, the driver is dispatched two hours later. The booking stays attached to the real arrival, not to the time that was printed when you bought the ticket.
This only works when the number you sent is the number you actually fly. If the airline substitutes a different flight number — common after a cancellation or a missed connection — that is the one detail we need from you on WhatsApp.
If the flight lands late
A late landing is the simplest case. The driver's arrival shifts with the aircraft, and the pickup happens in the same place as always: outside the customs exit, in the arrivals hall, with your name on the printed sign. There is no extra charge for the wait caused by the airline.
The same is true when the delay pushes you into the night. A flight expected at 19:00 that lands at 23:40 is still the same booking and the same fixed destination price. The terminal is quieter, the meeting point does not move.
If the flight moves earlier
Earlier flights are rarer than delays, but they happen — equipment changes, schedule rewrites, and passengers moved onto an earlier departure after a cancellation. This is the one timing change where a message helps immediately, because the driver may have been rostered against the later arrival.
Send the new flight number and landing time as soon as the airline confirms it. We then check whether a car can reach STI for the new arrival and confirm the revised pickup in writing.
If the flight is cancelled or rebooked
A cancellation does not cancel the need for the transfer; it moves it. Once the airline gives you the new flight, send us the booking name, the original flight number, and the new flight number and date. We move the reservation to the new arrival rather than selling you the same trip twice.
When the destination and passenger count stay the same, the fixed price normally stays the same too. A Puerto Plata booking moved from Tuesday afternoon to Wednesday morning is still a Puerto Plata booking.
Missed connections and next-day arrivals
Missed connections are where travellers most often lose track of the details. You may be rebooked through JFK, Miami, Newark or Panama City for the next day. From the dispatch side, the only useful fact is the final flight that will bring you into STI.
Send that new flight number and arrival date from the connection airport. When the new arrival lands the following day, the pickup works exactly as it would have on the original day.
If the aircraft is diverted away from STI
A diversion is different from a delay. If the aircraft lands at Santo Domingo (SDQ), Puerto Plata (POP) or another airport instead of STI, the original pickup cannot simply wait, because you are now arriving in a different place. Contact us before accepting improvised transport at the diversion airport.
A pickup from SDQ or another airport is quoted from that actual location, not from the original STI rate. If the airline later ferries passengers to STI by bus, send that detail too and we re-time the original transfer around it.
Return pickups when the departure flight changes
The same logic works in reverse for the ride back to the airport. If the airline moves your departure, send the new flight time before the pickup is due, and we re-cut the hotel lobby time around the new departure and the buffer your destination needs.
The day-before WhatsApp confirmation remains the reference point. If the airline changes the flight after that message arrives, reply to the same thread and the desk updates the pickup there.
What to send us on WhatsApp
One complete message is faster than five fragments. Send the booking name, the original flight number, the new flight number, the new date and landing time, the passenger count if it has changed, and where you are now — home, connection airport, diversion airport or already at the hotel.

- Will my driver wait if my flight to STI is delayed?
- Yes, when we have the flight number. The driver's arrival is moved against the actual landing time, and the delay does not change the fixed price or add a waiting fee.
- Is there a waiting fee after a delayed landing?
- No. Waiting caused by a tracked airline delay, immigration or baggage claim is included. The price you confirmed before travel remains the price you pay.
- What if the delay pushes my arrival past midnight?
- Nothing about the meeting point changes. The driver still waits outside the customs exit with your name sign, and there is no night surcharge.
- What if the airline rebooks me onto a flight the next day?
- Send the new flight number and arrival date on WhatsApp as soon as it is confirmed. We move the booking to that flight rather than treating it as a new purchase.
- What happens if my plane lands at SDQ or POP instead of STI?
- Message us before accepting alternative transport. A diversion means the pickup location has changed, so a direct pickup from that airport is quoted from there.
- Do I need to tell you every time the airline app updates?
- No. If the flight number stays the same, we are already tracking the delay. Message us when the flight number changes, the flight is cancelled, you miss a connection, or the aircraft diverts away from STI.
- What if I cannot travel at all?
- Send one WhatsApp message with the booking name and flight number so the driver is not dispatched. If you later rebook, send the new flight and the booking is moved to it.
