STI to Cayo Levantado Resort: coordinating your pier and boat transfer

Plan the road journey from STI, the handover at Simi Báez and the resort boat separately. Confirm booking inclusions, luggage, delays and your return connection.

Confirm the resort’s mainland arrival point

Reaching Cayo Levantado Resort from Cibao International Airport (STI) involves a road journey and a boat crossing. The resort identifies Simi Báez as its mainland arrival pier. Ask the resort for the exact car drop-off address, map pin and arrival instructions for your reservation before booking the vehicle.

A resort stay, a public-beach excursion and a general Samaná transfer are different arrangements. Do not send the driver simply to a pier in Samaná town. Cayo Arena is also a different destination. Use the resort name and its confirmed mainland meeting point in every transport confirmation.

Check what your reservation actually includes

Ask the resort whether your booking includes the boat crossing, whether it needs a separate reservation and who confirms boarding. A room confirmation alone does not establish that an STI airport road transfer is included. Obtain written confirmation of the arrangements and any separate charges.

Then request a road-transfer quote for the precise mainland address, travel date, passenger count and luggage. A general Samaná destination price does not automatically confirm a transfer to a specific pier. Keep the road provider’s confirmation and the resort’s boat instructions together.

Coordinate the flight, road journey and handover

Give both contacts your flight number and local arrival date. Allow for immigration, baggage collection and the road journey before agreeing a pier arrival. Ask the resort how the driver and boat team should coordinate the handover; a landing time is not a boarding appointment.

Before departure, establish whom to contact if the flight changes or airport formalities take longer. Flight monitoring by a road provider does not hold a boat. If the connection becomes uncertain, ask the resort for current arrangements before changing the driver’s destination or assuming a late crossing is available.

Confirm luggage and boarding assistance separately

Tell both providers about suitcases, strollers, sports equipment and mobility aids. Ask the resort about boat baggage conditions, handling at the pier and any assistance required to board. Vehicle luggage capacity does not establish the boat’s allowance or boarding conditions.

For a wheelchair or other mobility device, provide dimensions and explain whether the guest can transfer independently. Confirm the road vehicle and each boat boarding stage separately. A guide to wheelchair transport by car is useful for the road leg, but does not verify a ramp, lift or accessible boat at the pier.

Plan the island-to-STI return backwards

Start with your departing airline’s airport arrival recommendation and check-in cutoffs. Work backwards through the mainland drive, a separate traffic reserve, the handover and the resort’s confirmed boat departure and shore arrival. A mainland hotel pickup guideline is not an island departure time.

Ask the resort to confirm when and where you will reach the mainland, then agree the driver’s pickup there. Share your return flight number and local departure date. If weather or another disruption affects the boat, contact the resort and road provider promptly; do not assume the road booking guarantees the island connection.

Save one written connection checklist

Keep the resort’s mainland address and pin, boat confirmation, flight details, road pickup point, passenger and luggage information, agreed charges and both contact numbers available offline. Identify who communicates a revised pier arrival if the flight or road journey changes.

For the return, save the boat departure, expected shore arrival and confirmed car pickup as separate entries. Ask in advance how disruptions are handled, including any rebooking or overnight arrangements and who pays. Do not rely on an unconfirmed timetable, crossing duration or night service to protect your flight.

Which pier should I give the STI driver?

The resort identifies Simi Báez. Obtain the exact current car arrival address and map pin from the resort for your booking, and have the road provider confirm that destination.

Does the airport transfer include the boat?

Do not assume so. Confirm the road service with its provider and the boat reservation, inclusions and any charges with the resort.

Can I use a mainland Samaná pickup time for my flight home?

Not on its own. Add the resort’s confirmed boat arrangements and mainland handover before the road pickup, then plan around your airline’s airport deadlines.
