The short runs: 10 to 30 minutes
Licey/Tamboril, Santiago de los Caballeros and Gurabo sit within half an hour of the terminal on good road. These are the destinations where a late landing barely costs you anything: the drive is quick and lit, and even at midnight you are at your hotel well inside 45 minutes of walking out of arrivals.
Santiago is the biggest and most spread-out of the three. The published time covers the whole city, from Bella Vista and Jardines Metropolitanos to the Monumento a los Héroes area near the centre.
The medium runs: 30 to 100 minutes
Moca, La Vega and Jarabacoa are inland runs on the Autopista Duarte and the mountain road. Puerto Plata, Playa Dorada, San Francisco de Macorís, Sosúa and Cabarete stretch north over the Cordillera Septentrional pass. The road is good throughout, but the climb and descent on the Puerto Plata highway and the mountain road up to Jarabacoa add real minutes that a flat map will not show.
The long runs: 2 to 5 hours
Constanza, Monte Cristi, Punta Rucia, Santo Domingo, SDQ airport, Río San Juan and Las Terrenas / Samaná are full road trips rather than airport hops. On these routes the vehicle genuinely matters — a luxury SUV or Sprinter is worth the difference after the first hour — and a comfort stop is normal.
Punta Cana / Bávaro (PUJ) exists on this site only as a long cross-island destination page — it is roughly 4.25 to 5 hours from Santiago and is never the airport of origin for our transfers.

- Is the price different for a far hotel inside the same destination?
- No. The rate is set per destination, not per hotel, so a hotel on the far edge of a zone costs the same as one in the centre. That is why every hotel page shows the destination rate rather than its own price.
- How accurate are the drive times?
- They are real door-to-door ranges, not brochure numbers, and they already allow for the usual traffic band and, on mountain and coastal routes, the climb. The upper end of each range is what you should plan for on a busy afternoon or on departure day.
