Prices do not change with the season or the date you book
Request your VIP transfer when flights and accommodation are confirmed. For peak dates, larger parties and child-seat requests, confirm the arrangements early rather than assuming same-day vehicle availability.
VIP prices are one-way, per vehicle for 1–6 passengers. Taxes included. Santiago $59; La Vega $89; Jarabacoa $149; Puerto Plata $145; Sosúa $159; Cabarete $169 USD. VIP 7–14: +$40 USD.
There is no night surcharge, no holiday surcharge and no peak-week uplift. A 2 a.m. landing on 31 December costs what a 2 p.m. landing in June costs. The prices page lists every zone if you want to check before writing to us.
So booking early is never about locking a cheaper rate. It is about making sure a vehicle of the right size exists for your arrival window on a day when flights and, in February, Carnival crowds add to the traffic.
What high season actually looks like at STI
December to April is the peak. STI's small terminal handles it well compared to larger airports, but the flight banks from JetBlue, American, Delta and the other carriers still stack up in the same afternoon hours, and roads into Santiago and toward the coast get busier.
Inside that peak there are sharper spikes: the week between Christmas and New Year, Semana Santa (Easter week, when Dominican domestic travel adds to the roads), and Carnival — celebrated with parades in La Vega and in Santiago itself through February, building to Dominican Independence Day on 27 February. Carnival weekends bring heavy local traffic on the Autopista Duarte between Santiago and La Vega, which changes drive times more than it changes availability.
May to November is quieter, with the hurricane-season months of August to October the softest for transfer demand. Weather is a separate question and the hurricane season guide covers what actually changes on the road.
Lead times that work, by traveller type
Couple or family of two to four, low season: two weeks ahead is comfortable, and 48 hours is normally still fine. Same season, high season: three to four weeks.
Family or party of five to six needing a larger car, or anyone with car seats: four weeks in high season, two in low. Car seats are free but they are physical objects that have to be on the right vehicle, so they are worth naming early.
Seven to fourteen passengers in one van: six to eight weeks in high season. Groups above fourteen, weddings and multi-vehicle blocks: two to three months. Golf bags and similar cargo also shift you into a bigger vehicle.
The dates worth booking earliest
23 December to 3 January is the single tightest block of the year. Arrivals cluster, departures cluster harder, and the early-morning departure bank on 2 and 3 January is a busy hotel-lobby hour.
Easter week moves each year and behaves the same way. So does the last week of February, when Carnival celebrations peak in La Vega and Santiago and Independence Day on 27 February brings extra domestic travel on the Autopista Duarte.
For Carnival weekends specifically, road traffic between La Vega and Santiago is the constraint more than vehicle availability — build in extra drive time even with a confirmed booking.
Booking last minute: what is realistic
Same-day and next-morning bookings are accepted year-round when a vehicle is free, and in low season they nearly always are. What you lose at the last minute is choice: a specific VIP vehicle, a van for a group of ten, or two car seats on one car may not be available on three hours' notice in February.
If you are already at the airport, message the desk anyway. Dispatch will tell you honestly how long a vehicle needs to reach STI rather than let you wait for something that is not coming.
You never pay more for a late booking. The answer is simply yes or no on availability, at the same fixed rate.
Changing or cancelling a booking
Flight numbers, times, hotels and passenger counts can be edited by WhatsApp up to the day before travel at no cost, and a delayed or rescheduled flight is handled by us, not by you — we track the flight and move the driver.
Because changes are free and prices are fixed, there is no downside to booking early with an approximate return time and confirming it later.
Return transfers: the part people book too late
Departures are tighter than arrivals in high season, because many hotel guests leave in the same morning window. Working backwards from your flight, plan three hours before departure for a normal STI flight and more between December and April.
Book the return at the same time as the arrival. It is one message, the price is the same fixed zone rate, and it removes the single most common problem we see in January: a family trying to arrange a 5 a.m. lobby pickup at 10 p.m. the night before.
How to book, whatever the season
Send the arrival date, flight number, hotel, number of passengers, suitcases and any car seats to WhatsApp +1 849 377 5889. You get a written confirmation with the fixed price, the vehicle and the meeting point.
If you are still choosing dates, ask. We will tell you plainly whether the week you are looking at is tight for a van or wide open, because a booking that cannot be honoured is worth nothing to either of us.
Send the flight, get the price in writing
Hotel name, flight number, date and party size. We reply with the fixed rate, track the flight and meet you inside arrivals with a name sign. Pay the driver on arrival.
Book on WhatsAppQuestions we get on this
- How far in advance should I book a Santiago airport transfer?
- Two to four weeks for an ordinary date, four to eight weeks between December and April, and six to twelve weeks for Christmas, New Year, Semana Santa, Carnival weekends or any group needing a van. Booking earlier does not lower the price, it only secures the right vehicle.
- Are transfer prices higher in high season or at Christmas?
- VIP prices are one-way, per vehicle for 1–6 passengers. Taxes included. Santiago $59; La Vega $89; Jarabacoa $149; Puerto Plata $145; Sosúa $159; Cabarete $169 USD. VIP 7–14: +$40 USD.
- Does Carnival in La Vega or Santiago affect transfers?
- Prices don't change, but road traffic on the Autopista Duarte between Santiago and La Vega gets heavier during February Carnival weekends and around Independence Day on 27 February. Build in extra drive time and book earlier for those dates.
- Can I book a transfer on the same day or after I land?
- Yes, whenever a vehicle is free, and in the quieter months it usually is. Message WhatsApp +1 849 377 5889 and the desk will tell you how long a car needs to reach STI. Last-minute bookings cost the same fixed rate.
- When is high season at Cibao International Airport?
- December to April, with the sharpest peaks between Christmas and New Year, Easter week and late-February Carnival weekends. August to October is the quietest stretch and the easiest for short-notice bookings.
- Should I book the return transfer at the same time?
- Yes, especially between December and April, when many hotel guests depart in the same early-morning window. It is one message, the same fixed zone price, and it avoids arranging a 5 a.m. pickup the night before.
