We recommend a lobby pickup 3 hours before your flight from Puerto Plata or Playa Dorada. The route uses the Gregorio Luperón highway over the Cordillera Septentrional, a fast paved road but one that climbs and descends, so we plan for normal conditions rather than the best-case drive time. STI's single terminal clears quickly, so most of the buffer covers the drive and hotel checkout rather than a long queue at the airport. If you are flying out during the Amber Cove or Taíno Bay cruise-ship days, when Malecón traffic picks up, add 20–30 minutes.
