Arriving at STI for PUCMM Santiago: Campus or Accommodation First?

Arriving at STI for PUCMM Santiago? Confirm the right campus, accommodation address, key handover and first stop before booking your private transfer.

If you are flying into Cibao International Airport (STI) to study at PUCMM in Santiago, book your airport transfer to the address where someone has confirmed they can receive you and your luggage. That may be your accommodation rather than the university.

Confirm that you mean the Santiago campus

Before choosing your first stop, confirm the correct campus, your actual accommodation address and the arrangements for receiving you after the flight. A university acceptance letter does not establish a room booking, a key handover or permission for a vehicle to reach a particular building.

A private pickup can simplify the journey when these details are agreed in advance. The useful starting point is a complete arrival plan, rather than “take me to PUCMM.”

PUCMM—Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra—has separate campuses in Santiago and Santo Domingo. Its Santiago campus is on Autopista Duarte, km 1½, in Santiago de los Caballeros.

Write “PUCMM, Campus de Santiago” in your transfer request if that is your destination. Do not rely on the university name alone or send a contact address without checking which campus it belongs to.

STI is Cibao International Airport in Santiago. Use the airport code and local arrival date from your flight confirmation, particularly if you compared several Dominican Republic airports before booking. The Santiago transfer information provides the wider city-transfer context; your exact address and itinerary still need confirmation.

Treat accommodation as a separate destination

PUCMM does not have its own student residences. Its international-student information describes privately rented accommodation options rather than university-affiliated residences.

A room described as “near PUCMM” has its own address, entrance and receiving arrangements. It should not be booked simply as a university drop-off. Ask the accommodation provider for the details below.

Keep the destination details separate from the university contact. The person arranging your academic arrival may not control access to your room.

  • Full property address and a map pin for the entrance
  • Apartment, room or unit identifier, where relevant
  • Name and number of the person receiving you
  • Permitted arrival window
  • Instructions if your flight is delayed
  • Building-access or key-collection requirements

Decide where to go first

Choose your first stop according to confirmed access, rather than assuming that visiting campus immediately is necessary.

If you need to visit campus first

Ask your university contact which office or building you should attend, whether you need an appointment and which entrance visitors should use.

Confirm separately whether a car can reach that entrance. A campus address or map pin does not establish vehicle access to every building.

Ask what happens to your luggage during the visit. Do not assume an office will store suitcases or that the transfer vehicle remains available while you complete university tasks.

If accommodation comes first

Tell the university contact when you expect to be available after settling in. Keep any later campus journey separate from the airport booking unless both have been explicitly included.

For hotels, the early-arrival planning guide explains the distinction between transport timing and room availability. For a rented room or apartment, obtain the host’s arrangements rather than assuming hotel-style reception.

Early-arrival planning guide

Plan late arrivals around a real receiving arrangement

A flight landing late does not mean a university office, landlord or key holder will be available when you reach the destination.

PUCMM’s Student Mobility Office has published office hours; it is not an overnight arrival desk. Contact the relevant office before travelling to confirm when your first visit should take place.

Ask your accommodation contact who will receive you if the flight is delayed beyond the original arrival window. If there is a key box or access code, obtain instructions directly from the host and make sure you can use them without depending on a new mobile-data connection.

If the property cannot accept a late arrival, arrange an alternative before flying. Do not make an unconfirmed campus visit your fallback accommodation plan.

Describe the luggage for the whole party

A student arriving for an extended stay may carry more luggage than a short-stay visitor. Count all checked cases and cabin bags, plus belongings carried by accompanying relatives.

One student and two family members with several large cases need a different loading assessment from one student with a single suitcase. Include oversized items and any child-seat requirements in the original request.

Use the vehicle-planning information to understand the general categories, then ask the team to confirm a suitable vehicle for the actual people and luggage. Passenger count alone does not confirm luggage space. A VIP label does not establish a particular model or configuration.

Keep university, accommodation and transport updates separate

If the airline changes your flight number, local arrival date or arrival airport, update the transfer team. Tell the accommodation contact too if the receiving time changes.

A transport update does not automatically change a university appointment or a host’s key-handover arrangements. Ask each party to acknowledge the revised plan. Save the following details offline before departure.

If a parent or coordinator books without travelling, use the transfer handover checklist so the arriving passenger receives the final confirmation directly.

  • Confirmed pickup instructions and transport contact
  • Full destination and entrance details
  • Receiving person’s contact information
  • Agreed key or check-in arrangement
  • University appointment details, if scheduled

Request the complete itinerary

State whether you need a direct airport drop-off, an accommodation stop followed by campus, or a later separate pickup. These are different arrangements.

Ask the operator to confirm the accepted route, stops, vehicle category, total price and any waiting or change conditions. Do not calculate a multi-stop itinerary by adding published airport-zone fares.

For a campus destination, include the university contact’s entrance instructions and ask the transport team to confirm the proposed drop-off. For accommodation, use the actual residential or hotel address.

To discuss the journey with STI VIP, request your transfer and explain that you are arriving for PUCMM Santiago. Include the flight, passengers, luggage and confirmed first destination. Treat special access, additional stops or later pickups as requests until accepted.

The final check is straightforward: does the driver know where to take you, and does someone at that address know when and how to receive you?
