Visiting La Aurora: Plan Your STI or Santiago Hotel Transport
Planning a La Aurora factory visit? Coordinate your STI or Santiago hotel pickup, tour reservation, luggage and onward journey before booking transport.

For a La Aurora factory visit, confirm the visit first and arrange the transport around it. Your reservation should identify the date, arrival instructions and visitor entrance; your transport confirmation should identify the pickup, passengers, luggage and journey afterwards.
Confirm which La Aurora experience you are booking
If you are arriving at Cibao International Airport (STI), do not treat the scheduled landing time as a guaranteed tour arrival. If you are already staying in Santiago, a hotel pickup removes the airport-arrival stages from that day’s plan.
A private vehicle can make the journey easier to coordinate, but a transport booking does not secure admission to the factory or automatically include waiting during the visit.
La Aurora’s published contact address is on Carretera Santiago–Tamboril, km 5. Use the full address and the visitor instructions supplied with your reservation rather than asking only for “the cigar factory.”
The Factory Tour and the Cigar Institute are separately described experiences. Confirm the exact activity you have booked, where it begins and whether your confirmation includes any other locations.
Ask the visit organiser to confirm the details below. La Aurora’s published visitor information describes an adult experience for visitors over 18. Confirm eligibility for your actual group before arranging transport, particularly if children are travelling with you.
- Your date, start time and required arrival time
- The visitor entrance and meeting point
- The language of the visit
- The applicable age and identification requirements
- Any clothing, access or mobility requirements
- What happens if you arrive late
Choose an airport pickup or a hotel pickup
The best starting point depends on when the visit is confirmed and what you need after the flight.
For an airport-origin journey, the Licey and Tamboril transfer information provides regional context. Send the factory’s actual visitor address to the transport team and ask them to confirm the applicable route and quote. Do not assign the destination to a pricing zone from the factory name alone.
| Starting point | What to consider | What to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Directly from STI | Airport processing happens before the road journey | Whether the visit can accommodate your actual arrival |
| Hotel in Santiago | You can separate the visit from arrival day | Hotel entrance, pickup time and return destination |
| Hotel stop before the factory | The stop adds another address and time requirement | Luggage arrangements, room access if needed, and the complete route |
| Factory followed by another destination | The visit ends somewhere other than your hotel | Later pickup, luggage and the final drop-off |
Going directly after landing
A direct visit needs enough flexibility to accommodate the airport arrival process. Confirm with the organiser whether the visit can move if the flight or airport exit is delayed.
If the visit has a fixed start that cannot accommodate a later arrival, consider scheduling it on another day. No universal buffer makes an arrival-day appointment certain.
Visiting from your hotel
A hotel pickup can be simpler when you want to leave suitcases behind or avoid tying the visit to an international flight.
Provide the hotel’s full name, entrance and pickup date. Confirm the destination after the visit too: returning to the same hotel and continuing elsewhere are different itineraries.
Keep landing time separate from visitor arrival
After landing at STI, you still need to leave the aircraft, complete arrival formalities, collect any checked baggage, meet the driver and load the vehicle.
The landing-to-driver guide explains those stages. For a booked factory visit, add the road journey and any visitor check-in requirements rather than using the flight time as your arrival time at La Aurora.
Ask dispatch for a driving estimate for the exact entrance and travel period. A published regional drive time is not a guarantee that you will reach a particular tour.
If your airline changes the flight, update both the transport team and the visit organiser. Flight tracking does not automatically move a factory reservation.
Arrange luggage before deciding to visit first
If you plan to go directly from STI, explain that you will have airport luggage with you.
Ask the visit organiser whether suitcases can be accepted and where they would remain. Do not assume that factory reception provides storage or that the transfer vehicle will stay available while you are inside.
If the plan depends on leaving bags at your hotel, confirm that arrangement with the property. Room access and luggage storage are separate questions; the early-arrival planning guide explains the distinction.
Keep identification, the visit confirmation and anything you need during the visit accessible rather than packed inside a large case.
Decide between waiting and a later pickup
A one-way drop-off ends at the agreed destination. It does not, by itself, reserve a driver for the end of your visit. Choose and confirm one of the arrangements below.
For a later pickup, ask what happens if the visit finishes earlier or later than expected. For agreed waiting, confirm the expected duration, where the vehicle may wait, luggage arrangements and any charges.
The private-driver day-trip guide describes the broader format. Your actual La Aurora itinerary still needs its own confirmation.
- A drop-off with no onward transport included
- A later pickup at an agreed time and entrance
- Vehicle waiting explicitly included in the accepted itinerary
Confirm the visit’s current conditions separately
Do not treat a general contact-page opening time as a confirmed tour departure.
Before travelling, obtain the conditions for your selected date and booking channel: availability, duration, admission price if applicable, what is included and any change or cancellation terms.
Keep those separate from the transport quote. A vehicle reservation does not establish the price or conditions of the visit, and a tour reservation does not establish your pickup arrangements.
If the organiser changes the entrance, time or meeting point, send the updated instructions to dispatch and obtain acknowledgement.
Request one complete transport itinerary
Give the transport team a clear sequence rather than a list of possible stops. For example: pickup at your Santiago hotel, travel to the confirmed La Aurora visitor entrance, then a separately agreed pickup after the visit and return to the hotel.
For an arrival-day request, include the flight number and local arrival date, whether you want a hotel stop, the visit’s required arrival time and your final destination.
In either case, provide all passengers, suitcases and oversized items, plus any child-seat or assistance requirements. Ask the team to confirm the accepted route, vehicle category, stops, waiting or later pickup, total price and change conditions.
Do not calculate a factory visit with waiting or additional stops by adding published airport-zone fares.
To discuss the journey with STI VIP, request your transfer and identify it as transport for a separately arranged La Aurora visit. Keep the tour and any special transport arrangements marked as requests until each has been confirmed.
