STI to HOMS in Santiago: Plan Your Appointment Transfers
Visiting HOMS in Santiago? Plan your STI or hotel pickup, confirm the correct building, describe practical assistance needs and arrange transport after your appointment.

For a planned appointment at Hospital Metropolitano de Santiago, known as HOMS, confirm the exact building and arrival instructions before arranging your car. Then organise the journeys separately: airport or hotel to the appointment, and a clearly agreed pickup afterwards.
Confirm the building, department and entrance
The name “HOMS” alone may not identify where you need to report. Your appointment could involve the hospital or a consultation in the associated professional tower, while your accommodation may have a different reception. Give the transport team the destination confirmed by your appointment contact.
If you are flying into Cibao International Airport (STI), do not treat the scheduled landing time as the time you can attend an appointment. Airport formalities, the road journey and registration at the destination all come first.
HOMS publishes its address as Autopista Juan Pablo Duarte, Km. 2.8, Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic. Use that as a location reference, then ask your appointment contact for the actual building and entrance.
The associated HOMS Health and Wellness Center includes a professional medical tower, a Residence Inn by Marriott hotel and a convention centre. It connects with the hospital, but those facilities serve different purposes.
Send the confirmed destination and a map pin if your appointment contact provides one. A pin helps locate the building; it does not replace instructions about where to report. The STI-to-Santiago transfer information provides the broader airport-transfer context. Ask dispatch to confirm your actual destination and quote rather than assigning the journey from the hospital name alone.
| Destination in your plans | What to confirm before arranging the car |
|---|---|
| Hospital Metropolitano de Santiago | The service or department, where to register and the appropriate vehicle drop-off. |
| Professional tower at HOMS Health and Wellness Center | The clinician or office, floor, reception and building entrance. |
| Residence Inn by Marriott | The hotel reservation and hotel reception instructions, separately from the appointment. |
| More than one appointment location | The sequence, addresses and whether another vehicle journey is needed. |
The hotel reception is not your appointment registration
A hotel booking does not confirm an appointment, and a hospital appointment does not reserve accommodation.
If you are staying in the associated hotel, ask the hotel and appointment team how to move between the two locations. Do not assume that a connecting building route establishes the entrance, assistance or access arrangements you need.
Plan backwards from the required arrival time
Ask whether the time on your confirmation is the consultation time or the time you must present yourself for registration. For a journey directly after landing at STI, include the stages below.
The landing-to-driver guide explains the airport stages. Published driving times describe only the road portion and should not be treated as a guaranteed appointment arrival.
If the appointment cannot accommodate a later arrival, ask the appointment team whether another date or an earlier travel day would be more appropriate. Flight tracking can support an airport pickup; it does not change the clinic’s schedule.
- Leaving the aircraft and reaching the terminal.
- Entry formalities, baggage collection and customs.
- Meeting the driver.
- The road journey to the confirmed building.
- Reaching the correct reception and completing registration.
Tell the transport team what boarding requires
Describe the practical requirements before a vehicle is agreed. Useful details include whether the passenger can enter a regular vehicle seat, whether extra boarding time is needed, and the dimensions and weight of any wheelchair or mobility device.
Include the companion and all luggage in the passenger and bag count. Do not choose a vehicle solely from its seat capacity or a “VIP” label. The wheelchair and reduced-mobility transfer guide provides further information, but the actual arrangement still needs written confirmation.
If the clinical team says a particular form of assisted or medical transport is required, ask that team to coordinate the appropriate service. Do not book an ordinary private car on the assumption that it provides clinical care, monitoring, lifting equipment or a stretcher.
Keep appointment documents and transport details separate
Ask the appointment team which identification, authorisations or records to bring, and keep those accessible during the journey.
For the driver’s itinerary, provide the information needed to perform the trip: passenger name, contact number, building, entrance, timing, luggage and agreed boarding requirements.
There is no need to explain a diagnosis simply to identify a drop-off point. Avoid sending full medical records to the transport team when a short logistical description answers the question.
Decide where your airport luggage will go
If travelling directly from STI, ask whether the appointment location can receive your suitcases and where they would remain during the visit.
Do not assume a clinical reception accepts large bags or that a transfer vehicle will store them while you are inside.
If a hotel stop is needed first, confirm baggage reception with the property and include both addresses in the transport request. The hotel-to-hotel transfer guide explains why an additional journey or extended stop needs its own agreed itinerary.
Arrange the journey after the appointment
An appointment start time is not a reliable car departure time.
Ask whether you should request a later pickup, agree a waiting period or contact dispatch once the appointment team can confirm that you are ready to leave. Each option needs acceptance; a one-way drop-off does not reserve a vehicle for the rest of the day. Use the checklist below.
The return pickup may be at a different entrance from the original drop-off. Obtain the appropriate instructions before asking the driver to move.
If the visit leads to further tests or a changed departure plan, update the transport booking rather than leaving the driver to infer what has happened.
- The building and entrance for pickup.
- A realistic pickup window, if one can be given.
- Who will tell dispatch that the passenger is ready.
- How changes or additional waiting are handled.
- The destination after the visit.
Identify the companion and the person coordinating changes
A relative abroad may book the car while another person accompanies the passenger. Make the roles clear.
Name the lead passenger, travelling companion, booking contact and payer. Agree whose instructions dispatch should accept if the time, destination or passenger list changes. The guide to booking an STI transfer for someone else provides a handover checklist.
Give the passenger or companion the confirmed transport instructions and contact details. A complete booking conversation on a relative’s phone is not useful if the people at the hospital cannot access it.
If language assistance is needed for the appointment, arrange that with the appointment team. A driver should not be assumed to act as a clinical interpreter.
Keep changes to the appointment and car booking coordinated
Tell the appointment team and transport team separately if your arrival flight, local arrival date or destination changes.
If a visit moves from one building to another, send the new instructions to dispatch and obtain acknowledgement. If the next appointment is on another day, request the additional road journey explicitly.
For a return flight from STI, build the pickup around the airline’s airport-arrival guidance and the actual departure point. Do not make an uncertain appointment finish your only protection against missing the flight.
Request a written itinerary and complete transport price
Use the checklist below to send one clear request. Ask for acceptance of the itinerary, a suitable vehicle, the complete road-transport price and the applicable waiting and change conditions.
Adapt the example request to your journey. Keep provisional arrangements distinct from those confirmed.
To discuss the road journeys with STI VIP, request your transfer and identify the HOMS appointment destination in the notes. Keep the appointment and transport confirmations separate, with the latest agreed details available to the passenger and companion.
- Arrival flight and local date, if relevant.
- Exact origin: STI or the named accommodation.
- Confirmed HOMS building, entrance and registration time.
- Passengers, companion, luggage and boarding requirements.
- Direct journey or an agreed hotel stop.
